We are proud to honor Marlene Arnold as the 2025 Alpine Days Grand Marshal. Few people embody the heart of Alpine quite like Marlene—a woman whose warmth, creativity, and decades of quiet service have shaped our community in countless ways.
Marlene and her husband Kyle Arnold moved to Alpine from Sandy in 1968 with their young family. Together they raised four children, Glynn, Garn, Kerry, and Kimberly, in the heart of Alpine. Marlene is the proud grandmother of 22 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren, many of whom still live in Alpine and continue the family’s tradition of civic involvement and love for their hometown.
Kyle served Alpine for over 20 years as a City Judge and 8 years on the City Council, with Marlene by his side every step of the way. Together, they delighted families as Mr. and Mrs. Claus at Alpine’s holiday celebrations for many years. The Arnold family’s dedication runs deep. Their daughter Kimberly also served on the City Council, and son Garn was named
“Honorary Mayor” of Alpine Days in 1971.
Marlene is widely known for her white hair, beautiful singing voice, and her signature move—the splits—even at the age of 87! Until just a few years ago, she performed in theater productions across the state, including the Hale Center Theater, SCERA, Draper Historic Theatre, and Alpine Community Theater. She has also appeared in LDS films like The RM and The Singles Ward.
Her talent for storytelling and love for children led her to create original Christmas programs each year for the Primary in her church, writing scripts and designing costumes by hand. For many years, she taught dance classes to local children, turning Alpine City Hall into her studio.
Behind the scenes, Marlene has always been a willing helper—stuffing Easter eggs, organizing parade entries, and serving as a past Alpine Days Parade Chair. She attends Alpine Days every year, and even now, she continues to uplift those around her by baking treats and delivering kind, handwritten notes to neighbors and friends.
Marlene’s life is a testament to joyful service, creativity, and enduring community spirit. It is a privilege to celebrate her this year as the Alpine Days Grand Marshal.
